Tomorrow is our "new house" one month anniversary. Hard to believe a month has gone by already. Our new house is amazing. It's just wonderful.

Speaking of the new house, i'm not sure i've really said much about it on here, so i thought i might take a moment to do so.

This is our new house -



This new house of ours is in a suburb of Auckland called One Tree Hill, which incidentally has no tree on it. It does have a massive, massive park which is 2 blocks away from our house.

When there's no traffic its about a 10 minute drive on the highway to the centre of town. We've been commuting in by train. It's about a 15 minute walk to the train station (about 1.5km) and then a 17 minute train ride to downtown. So, all in all, it's not that bad of a commute.

Our property is just over 750m2 which for Auckland, is a pretty decent size. This being said, our property is rather lush and quite jungl-ish. We like this.



The house was originally marked as a three bedroom house, however, in reality, it's only a 2 bedroom as the third one was converted into a dining room. The house is an ex state house from the 1940's.

As you can see the kitchen appears to definitely be from that era (or at least 50's). It also has beautiful rimu floors throughout the kitchen, dining room and hall.

Going back to the garden, we have just about every edible fruit tree you could want - including:

-bananas
-peaches
-lemons
-limes
-figs
-tangerines (or clementines?)
-plums
-feijoas
-macadamia nuts

And what house would be complete without a white picket fence and rose garden out front?



I've even started to work on my own green thumb and have started my own veggie garden (early days in this photo)



The one reason we really like this house is that there is lots of potential but little that is required to be done in the immediate time frame. We'd like to maybe redo the kitchen and some point and Matt is having grand visions of redoing the basement area. Actually, calling it a basement is perhaps a bit of a misnomer. It's more of an under house area.



Its also got a fireplace (sorry no stock photo at the moment) which will be nice for winter time.
